The Polo Bar – a bar that has such a chic and dazzling Swarovski Crystal window display, it has caught my eye many a time when walking past.
Situated in the heart of Mayfair amongst London’s most exclusive fashion distric
t and only a stones throw from tourist hot spots Bond Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus – The Polo Bar is a brilliant place to stop by to escape the chaos.
Residing at one of London’s most luxurious and world renowned hotels, The Westbury, you know you’re in good hands before entering.
As we walked in, we left all the hustle behind us and were welcomed by a meticulously dressed waiter with a warm smile. We were walked to our table and very quickly sunk into our very comfortable armchairs overlooking the bar.
The room was elegant and sophisticated and the atmosphere relaxed. A perfect space for that business meeting, catch up with friends, or in my case, date night.
Date night is pretty sacred to us – a rarity. So, recently we took the decision to ditch the usual repetitive suspects (same restaurants / same food) and become a little more adventurous by trying something new.
Perfect timing – The Polo Bar had just unveiled their Nightcap Menu – a menu aimed at those looking for an after dinner digestif or wind down after a busy day.
The menu, inspired by the popular French dish Café Gourmand, has been designed by newly appointed Bar Manager, Fabio Pezzini and offers a libation and treat for every taste.
I started with “One for the Road” – a spin off of an espresso martini but created with decaf coffee syrup so you don’t get that caffeine rush before bed. It was mixed with Remy 1738 with Montenegro tobacco liquor. Divine.
The hubs went for the “Last Cocktail’ – as a gin and rosemary fan he was excited that these ingredients were mixed together. A tipple of Tanqueray gin, pear juice and homemade rosemary syrup, topped up with Moet & Chandon Champagne.
Both presented beautifully with 3 delicate, bite size amuse along side. A pistachio and white chocolate drizzle cake, a cherry and vanilla choux bun and a chocolate orange pot. Each mouthful complimenting the cocktail beautifully.
Next up, the ‘Remy Martin XO’. ThIs blend presented ever so gorgeously in a stand hiding a secret draw full of homemade chocolate for late night indulgence. Whilst we found this drink a little strong for our tastebuds, we loved it. The Nightcap of all nightcaps with the ultimate indulgence.
Whilst there was one more drink on the menu – ‘Pillow of Roses’ we didn’t manage to try it as we had to get home to release our babysitter but will be saving it for next time. This tea offers a blend of chamomile flowers, rosebuds and lime balm. A unique blend for any tea lover looking to unwind.
In short, we absolutely loved our time at The Polo Bar. Great decor, great service and a flawless experience which left us feeling relaxed and happy. A perfect date night – We will be back.
The Nightcap menu will be available daily from Monday 8th October, 9pm – close with prices starting ranging from £9.50 – £33.
